Chair, Wheaton College President
Dr. Ryken ’88 is the eighth president of Wheaton College. President Ryken attended Wheaton as an undergraduate, majoring in English literature and philosophy. He met his wife Lisa during their first few days at the College, and they were married before their senior year. The Ryken’s have five children: Josh (’15) who is married to Anna (’16), Kirsten (’18) who is married to Ty Collins, Jack (’23), Kathryn (’24), and Karoline, as well as their granddaughters Ellie and Anna. Dr. Ryken earned a Master of Divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in historical theology from the University of Oxford. He preached at Philadelphia’s historic Tenth Presbyterian Church from 1995 until his appointment at Wheaton in 2010. President Ryken has published more than 50 books and serves as a board member for the Gospel Coalition, the Lausanne Movement, and the National Association of Evangelicals.

Dr. Bock is a Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. He serves as Executive Director for Cultural Engagement, at Howard G. Hendricks Center for Christian Leadership, and Cultural Engagement for the Seminary’s Center for Christian Leadership. His publications include more than forty books. He has served as a translation consultant for numerous Bible translations and conducted expert interviews with various media outlets. He is married to Sally and has two married daughters, a married son, three grandsons, and two granddaughters. He also serves as elder emeritus at Trinity Fellowship Church, has served as editor at large for Christianity Today, and served as President of the Evangelical Theological Society for the year 2000-2001.

Secretary
Dr. Gieser is a 1971 honors graduate of Wheaton College. Like his father, Dr. P. Kenneth Gieser ’30 (a Wheaton trustee from 1942-1987), Dr. Gieser pursued a career in ophthalmology, serving at the Wheaton Eye Clinic, where he was President from 1996 to 2003. He retired in 2022 after providing patient care for nearly 42 years. Dr. Gieser obtained his medical degree at the University of Illinois and completed his internship at Hines VA Hospital. He received his residency and fellowship training at the University of Illinois (Chicago) and Washington University (St. Louis), respectively, with a primary focus on the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Gieser has served on the boards of the Spectrios Institute for Low Vision, the National Institute of Healthcare Research, the Missionary Furlough Homes Foundation, and MEDICS Int’l Care, Inc., and currently serves on the board of God Centered Life, a radio ministry, as well as Pioneers, a mission agency, and the President’s Council of Christianity Today. Additionally, he served as President of the Board of Directors for both the Wheaton Academy Alumni Association and the Wheaton College Alumni Association, and has been an elder at College Church in Wheaton. Dr. Gieser was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1989 and served as Chairman from May 2009 to 2018.

Jim Goetz graduated from Wheaton College in 1979 with a BA in mathematics and economics and received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1984. He has served as a technology executive at IBM, Ameritech, ServiceMaster, Convergys, and Verra Mobility, and as a board member at Mortgage Contracting Services. Jim has also contributed significantly to his community, serving as Chairman of Wheaton Bible Church in West Chicago, Illinois; as a board member of Inspiration Ministries, an evangelical ministry focused on reaching the disabled; and as a counselor for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Alongside his wife Sandy, Jim is actively involved in refugee resettlement and global missions. He joined the Wheaton College Board of Trustees in May 2010 and was elected Chairman in May 2018.

Rev. Dr. Irwyn L. Ince serves as the Coordinator of Mission to North America and was the former Executive Director of the Grace DC Institute for Cross-Cultural Mission (ICCM). Dr. Ince is also an Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology at RTS Washington. He earned his BE in Electrical Engineering from The City College of New York and began his professional career as a systems engineer and project engineering manager in the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan area. Sensing a call to ministry, Dr. Ince pursued an MA degree with Reformed Theological Seminary and earned his Master of Arts (Religion) degree from RTS in 2006. Following his graduation, he helped plant City of Hope Presbyterian Church in Columbia, MD. Dr. Ince later earned his DMin from Covenant Theological Seminary in 2016, and in 2018, he was unanimously elected as the 46th PCA General Assembly Moderator, becoming the first African American elected to the position. He is the author of The Beautiful Community: Unity, Diversity, and the Church at Its Best, published in 2020, and Hope Ain’t A Hustle: Persevering by Faith in a Wearying World, published in 2024 by InterVarsity Press. He has been married to his wife, Kim, since 1992, and they have four children and two beautiful granddaughters.

Mary is the former president of Q Place, a ministry that empowers Christians to launch small groups for spiritual seekers. After twenty-two years as an entrepreneurial marketer and founder of three technology-related business ventures, Mary transitioned to ministry in 1999. She served as a minister of small groups at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in the San Francisco Bay area before leading Q Place for 10 years, retiring in 2018. Mary holds an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary (2006) and is the author of How to Start a Q Place and coauthor of The 9 Arts of Spiritual Conversations. With a deep passion for the Great Commission, she led the Explore God Chicago initiative in early 2019, collaborating with over 1,000 Chicagoland churches and 20 ministries. She is married to Paul and has three adult children, including Kristin (Schaller) Thompson, a Wheaton College graduate from the class of 2003, and six grandchildren. After serving for four years on the Wheaton College Board of Visitors, Mary joined the Wheaton College Board of Trustees in May 2018.

Vice Chair
Dr. Greg Waybright (’74 and ’78) is originally from Bluefield, WV, and is married to Chris Waybright (’75). They have two children and three grandchildren. Greg graduated from Wheaton College with a BA in Philosophy and Biblical Studies and earned his MA in Communications from Wheaton Graduate School in 1978. He also holds a diploma from the Moody Bible Institute, along with degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Marquette University. He has served in various ministry roles, including music ministry in Hamburg, Germany, and as a teaching pastor in California, Wisconsin, and Illinois. From 1995 to 2007, Dr. Waybright served as President of Trinity International University. He was elected to the Wheaton College Board of Trustees in May 2010, served as Interim Chaplain at Wheaton College from 2020 to 2022, and was reelected to the Board of Trustees in 2022. Greg currently resides in Colorado Springs, CO.
