Dr. Gieser is a 1971 honors graduate of Wheaton College. Like his father, Dr. P. Kenneth Gieser ’30 (a Wheaton trustee from 1942-1987), Dr. Gieser pursued a career in ophthalmology, serving at the Wheaton Eye Clinic, where he was President from 1996 to 2003. He retired in 2022 after providing patient care for nearly 42 years. Dr. Gieser obtained his medical degree at the University of Illinois and completed his internship at Hines VA Hospital. He received his residency and fellowship training at the University of Illinois (Chicago) and Washington University (St. Louis), respectively, with a primary focus on the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Gieser has served on the boards of the Spectrios Institute for Low Vision, the National Institute of Healthcare Research, the Missionary Furlough Homes Foundation, and MEDICS Int’l Care, Inc., and currently serves on the board of God Centered Life, a radio ministry, as well as Pioneers, a mission agency, and the President’s Council of Christianity Today. Additionally, he served as President of the Board of Directors for both the Wheaton Academy Alumni Association and the Wheaton College Alumni Association, and has been an elder at College Church in Wheaton. Dr. Gieser was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1989 and served as Chairman from May 2009 to 2018.
